One of these players deserved the 1988 AL MVP award, the other did not. Sorry Mike, maybe baseball will redeem itself when your son Bo patrols leftfield for the Sox.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day. :)
Shame on you Ben Cherington for forcing Red Sox legend and captain Jason Varitek into retirement. Everyone knows he had a few more years of baseball left in him. This is right up there with Theo trading Nomar and Duquette trading Dewey.

Can you think of a more perfect rookie card? Not only is it Jacoby’s first card, but it has a piece of his game-worn jersey, AND it’s autographed. With only 199 of the “refractor” versions in existence, it’s going to be the hottest card in New England if it isn’t already. A must-have for any die hard Ellsbury fan.

The following picture is a shot taken during the four alarm fire at Fenway Park on January 5th, 1934. The fire destroyed much of the new renovation work that had been done by new owner Thomas Yawkey, but the park was still able to open in time for the season opener, renovations complete.
